COVID-19 (also known as the Coronavirus) is causing worldwide panic and Italy is the second country in the world for the number of confirmed cases. On Monday 9th March 2020 the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte declared all Italy as a red zone, bringing the countrywide restrictions into effect until April 3, the quarantine measures were extended to the whole country to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
From the morning of Tuesday March 10th, the movements of Italy’s population are only allowed for “urgent, verifiable work situations and emergencies or health reasons “. The latest decree prohibits all forms of gatherings in public places, sporting events of all levels were cancelled, swimming pools, spas, sports halls and wellness centres must not operate, and ski resorts across the country are shut. Bars and restaurants are only allowed to open between 6am and 6pm, and only if it is possible to keep a distance of at least a metre between customers. All museums and cultural venues are closed, schools and universities are closed and all the exams cancelled. Pharmacies and supermarkets remained opened, and only one member per family can go to have food shopping.
As consequence all religious ceremonies such as marriages, baptisms and funerals are banned, unfortunatly this means that untill 3rd April 2020 it is not possible to get married in Italy.
If you haven’t got wedding insurance yet, it may be too late. Companies such as Wedding Plan Insurance will usually insure your wedding against cancellation for a nominal fee, however most insurance companies are now declining to cover weddings.
I know that this decision will affect many couples who decided to celebrate their wedding in Italy in this period, but this decision taken by the Italian Government was necessary for the health and safegarding of all the world citizens, we must stop the spreading of this dangerous virus and the only way is to reduce the movements, the activities and to STAY AT HOME for a limited time.
